Welcome to Our School

Welcome to the Clinch County Middle School website – where Panther Pride continues! CCMS is a middle school for grades 5-7 located in Homerville, Georgia and is part of the Clinch County School System. We’re proud of our close-knit community and our beautiful surroundings in the swamp lands of southeastern Georgia. Just visit our campus, and you’ll be caught up in our enthusiasm for our students’ accomplishments in everything they do.

We believe the words of Winston Churchill: “Responsibility is the price of greatness.” We hold our students accountable for their choices, and we expect greatness from them. Please browse our website to learn more about what makes Clinch County Middle School a great place to learn every day.

A Message From Our Principal

I am extremely excited about the start of this school year. As we look to this year, our motto is simply “expect excellence.” For the past several years our students and teachers have accomplished many phenomenal goals and demonstrated the drive and confidence to reach goals that far surpass other schools in our area. I strongly believe success breeds success! It is our commitment to create an environment where “excellence is expected” in all areas of our school and all students.

As this school year begins, you will see many faces in different places. Ms. Amanda James steps in as our new assistant principal. Mrs. Jerri Lynn Spivey accepted a new position as the CCMS RTI coordinator/instructional coach. Tanya O’Berry is our new gifted teacher. Crystal Peterson is moving to 7th grade, replacing Ms. O’Berry.

We are happy to welcome three new teachers this year! Tonya Stalvey, Kristen Pittman, and Jessica Booth will all join our CCMS family. We are excited about what each of these teachers will bring to our staff. Ms. Stalvey will teach 5th grade reading, Mrs. Pittman will teach 6th grade English language arts, and last, but certainly not least, Mrs. Jessica Booth will teach 6th grade special education.

Also this year, our 7th graders are changing locations. They will now be in the former 4th grade wing.

We are in full implementation of the new Common Core Georgia Performance Standards and the new accountability for all Georgia schools, the College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI).

Here at Clinch County Middle School, we have a highly motivated and professional staff working to positively impact the lives of our students. It is evident that our staff continually strives to promote academic growth while providing rigorous standards for all students. By delivering high quality, research-based instruction on a daily basis; developing and maintaining high standards and expectations; and promoting professional learning communities, we provide our students with the best possible opportunity to learn and succeed at rates superior to many in our area of the state.

We hope you will share in our excitement about the 2013-14 school year! Please drop by to see what’s going on in our fantastic school. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to call me at 912-487-5385.

Sincerely,

Shane Miller
